This post was inspired by a very good friend of mine. We were talking about why it is that as soon as she feels a sweat coming on she stops exercising and how it hugely contributes to her "Cottage Cheese thighs". Anyway, I would like to preface this by saying that I acknowledge that I am the least likely person to write about black women's hair.  I am bald headed and male... lmao.  The fact of the matter is that many of the people that I Love are black women though and I am all about making sure that everyone can access their best experience of life through fitness and accessing phenomenal health.  So, I felt obligated to address this issue.

One of the greatest deterrents for black woman to go to the gym and exercise until they break a sweat is that their hair will get messed up.  Sounds crazy, but it is very true that moisture can wreak havoc on a black woman's hairstyle transforming it into a big unruly puff of hair.  Because of this fact many woman have become resigned to being either cute and fat or slim, fit and a little crazy about the hair.  According to the American journal of Public Health less than 30% of black women exercise regularly. African American have the absolute highest rate of being overweight and obese in America. In a study at Wake Forest Baptist Medical center 30% of the participants mentioned hair as a deterrent to exercise, there was a woman who was interviewed and she said

 Look at my face in this still shot LMAO!  Anyways, as you may be well aware there are thousands of reasons and excuses why people fall off of their workout regimens.  Hopefully this video will help you to avoid tripping over 3 of the most common yet hidden hurdles that people encounter when attempting to adopt a healthier lifestyle. The next time that you choose to take new action around fitness you can stick with it with confidence because of your heightened awareness.  You can avoid being blindsided by inactivity and the gradual onset of apathy that knocks so many people off course when it comes to becoming fit for life. Don't start off your new routine with too much intensity.  Speak to yourself and about your workout efforts in a way that is conducive to you maintaining healthy habits for life.  Attract your transformation with the language that you use around becoming fit.  Remain aware of your thoughts and acknowledge that only you have control of your health and your mind.
